DB&T presents Jake Dodds - A Benefit for the Dubuque United Way

Date: Oct 01, 2021
Time: 7:00 PM

Jake Dodds is one of the Midwest’s fastest growing country acts, playing some of the hottest venues throughout the region. Jake is regular act at the famed Joe's Bar in Chicago (two-time Academy of Country Music nightclub of the year), a regular headline act at The Bluebird in Bloomington, Indiana, and plays a growing circuit of the top bars throughout the Midwest and Southeast where so many of today's top artists once defined their own sounds.

Jake grew up listening to country music, tuning into the Grand Ole Opry and watching ‘The Statler Brothers Show’ on TNN with his grandparents every Saturday night. Growing up in the 90’s, Jake got hooked on Garth Brooks’ TV specials and country radio, listening to Tracy Lawrence, Tim McGraw, and Tracy Byrd. As high school came and went, it was Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney who helped a shy boy through those awkward teenage years of girls, football practice, and mowing lawns.

Jake always dreamed of being a country music singer, but it was karaoke at local bars that led Jake to start a band in 2013. Since then, Jake has been doing things the old-fashioned way, growing his audience on Friday and Saturday nights in clubs, bars, and festivals while opening for some of country music’s top players like: Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Thompson Square, Lee Brice, Tyler Farr, Chase Rice, Dustin Lynch, and Jerrod Niemann.

Jake’s career got an early boost when he won Hank FM Indianapolis’ battle of the bands, which led to his first single "Shotgun in My Truck" gaining airplay on regional radio stations throughout Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. Dodds self-released his self-titled debut EP in 2015, then followed it up with 2019’s ‘Have a Drink With Me,” which was released by the Hadley Music Group.

Dodds reached a whole new audience in early 2021 when his song “She Goes to Work” went viral on the TikTok social media platform. The track, written during the COVID-19 pandemic as a salute to frontline workers, racked up more than 1.2 million views on TikTok. Dodds then released the song as a single in early May and it has gone on to be his best-performing song on the Spotify streaming service. On iTunes, it reached the country sales chart’s Top 15 and cracked the Top 50 of the all-genre chart.

Jake Dodds offers up a show packed full of energy and a nonstop fun time. It’s more than just a good band on stage: It’s a night out. A night to shake the bad or the busy off. It’s a party. A ‘let it all go’ good time.
